These compac F miners work. The issue is POWER. Even the provided 7-port hub stuggles to power the miners (in overclock state).
The Compac F requires a hub WAY OUT OF SPEC. Hence nearly impossible to find one.
My personal experience with the Compact F is a max clock range: 450-490 MHz. Not sure why I get varying results, but its a power thing.
The listed overclock of 400 will not get you to ~334 GH/s needed for a total (3 device) 1 TH/s.
If anyone is aware of a USB hub with over 3.1 amps per port - LET ME KNOW.
It’s a perfect little desktop Bitcoin miner. Took it out of the box and haas it minning in 20 minutes. Love it!
When I first ran cgMiner with the present script I was maxing out at 300-400gh/s. I tried adjusting the --gekko-compacf-freq 400, between 425-800. I have played with every setting and the best hash rate of an average of 650 gh/s has come from the freq at 500. As cgMiner recalibrates as it runs; Card 1 always settles at a freq of400-475, card 2 freq at 320-380, and card 3 freq at 380-420. Running above freq 500 drops to about 350gh/s average rate for all three. Also, I changed from using the installed preset cgMiner to a different GitHub version and it added a 150gh/s increase to give me the average of 650gh/s. Very few spikes above 750gh/s and none below 500 gh/s with the above changes. Overall it works but not at the rate the cards claim to. My average over 2 weeks has been 650 gh/s, not 1TH/s +.
I spent more time unpacking than making it work. The CompacF kit + the Raspberry CPU made the magic. I’m mining Bitcoin. The whole exercise was productive and as a learning experience was exceptional. The product came so well packaged and protected and the tracking was easy.
Bitcoin Merch is my go-to for new mining kit. These new Gekkoscience USBs are the equivalent of something like 10 Newpacs!
