I found my way to this site after buying elsewhere a couple of cheap proof-of-concept solo miners that are largely good for conversation pieces with guests at most. I decided to go "All In" and spring for an A1 since the page was crystal clear that I'd be waiting a while for it either way.
Once it showed up: I plugged it in, configured it, connected it to a pool and its been all but quietly spinning its wheels and working its magic on my living room media center ever since. The sound from the fan is noticeable but not to the point of being a nuisance to me. After about a day, it really became background static that I really have to listen for to pick out.
I'm planning to upgrade it with at least one R909 before the year is out. Even then, I know that my odds of picking up a whole block with that setup will be long at best. Still, Its nice to know that - thanks to these guys here at Bitcoin Merch - I'll have SOME chance of actually doing so.
A nice little miner utilizing the Compac A1. The fan is a little noisy for my liking, but the miner is operating well. Plug and Play. If you have an ASUS router, ensure you disable Two-Way IPS under AIProtection to prevent the routing from blocking stratum connections (aka connections to the mining pools).
